This Loving Donkey Keeps Kissing The Man Who Saved His Life

When rescuers discovered Pippin, his face was filthy and his body was covered with scratches. His eyes were very sleepy and dull, and he hardly even raised his head. One glance was all it needed to see how lonely and down Pippin was.

The donkey had previously been exchanged and sold to a dozen different families over the course of fifteen years, and it seemed probable that he would never have made a buddy.

We learned of a man looking to get rid of a donkey from a worker at the shop where we purchased the animal feed. We headed towards him after seeing his picture. He wasn’t feeling good there.

Pippin was confined to a small enclosure, and Laura was informed by his owner that he had recently attempted to flee; thus, he became trapped beneath the gate and sustained injuries.

Says Laura

“We saw his melancholy and resignation as he entered the trailer. The fact that she had moved houses for the thirteenth time was what moved us the most. She will never again have to say goodbye, we assured her.

Pippin was very wary because of his past. He would get frightened and flee as far as he could if his caregivers attempted to sweep near to him, acting as though he had previously been struck by the broom. If his ears were touched, he also became quite agitated.

Pippin’s body needed time to recover from physical neglect in addition to mental abuse. Her muscles were weakened from insufficient nourishment and lack of space, and her hooves were severely damaged.

But despite everything he had gone through, Pippin was so affectionate with his guardians that he would lie motionless for long periods of time while getting petted. Kisses, though, are what Pippin enjoys the most.

Says Laura

“Pippin was loving with us right away after we were welcomed, attempting to get our attention. As soon as he noticed us, he called to invite us to see him.

Pippin and his caregiver, co-founder of the sanctuary Alberto Terrer, slowly started to develop a particular relationship. Pippin nuzzled the guy, who made it a habit to stroke and kiss the dog every day.

Says Laura

Above all, he and his caregiver Alberto share a unique relationship. She is always requesting kisses and cuddles from him.

Pippin has grown more loving with Alberto and his new buddies in the more than a year since he was saved. Pippin adores the cows, the other donkeys, and the sanctuary’s staff. He enjoys them almost as much as he enjoys eating apples, which have been his new go-to treat after visiting the refuge.
