Dog Abandoned At A Vet Clinic Barely Even Looked Like A Dog At All

No one could believe their eyes when Dobby’s previous owner stepped into the immunization clinic with him. The small puppy was raw and red, and he didn’t even resemble a dog. The employees’ hearts were aching, and they realized they had to do something to assist him.

Sara Harper was a vet technician at Concerned Citizens For Animal Welfare’s low-cost immunization facility in Florida in January 2016. She knew it was her destiny to help Dobby recover as soon as she saw him. He was 5 years old, according to the woman who brought him in, and this was his first time seeing a veterinarian.

Harper told The Dodo, “We were alarmed by his poor state.” “His feet were raw and red, too, with toenails that had grown so long that they curled into his paw pads. She revealed that over the years she kept him, her flea treatment consisted of dumping a flea powder designed for carpet and vacuuming up. She stated that she was unwilling to spend money on him. As a rescuer, I urged her to hand him up, and she complied right away.”

Harper was immediately allowed to take Dobby to her own clinic, even though it was closed that day, so they could begin treating him as soon as possible.

Dobby was taken in by Pawsibilities Rescue after he was cleaned up and given basic care, and they continued to help him on his rehabilitation path. He required therapeutic baths for months in order to repair his skin and let his fur to regrow. When his prospective family saw his image on Facebook and realized he was meant to be theirs, he was still a long way from being ready to be adopted.

Liz Ford was seeking for a new puppy after losing her two senior rescue pups, and she fell in love with Wylie, who was also at Pawsibilities Rescue. She applied for and was accepted to adopt him, and while she was waiting for him to be ready, she came across Dobby’s photo and fell in love with him right away.

“When I saw him, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Ford told The Dodo. “I kept an eye on tiny Dobby while waiting for Wylie to recuperate enough to be adopted. I was sitting on the floor at the rescue worker’s house, waiting for Wylie, when Dobby came up and cuddled himself on my lap. I had a feeling he’d show up at that point.

Ford drove Wylie home that day, and they reunited four months later for Dobby. Dobby and Wylie soon recognized one other, and it was evident that they would become fast friends in their new home. Dobby’s skin was still mending and his fur hadn’t fully grown back at that time, but his new family was eager to continue his therapy and help him develop into the fluffy, healthy dog they knew he could be.

Dobby is now covered with white, fluffy fur and no longer resembles the dog who was brought into the clinic all those years ago. He’s never been happier than when he’s playing fetch with his brother Wylie and running circles around the house. His new family is ecstatic to have him as part of their pack, and they’re so proud of how far he’s come.
