Man Takes His Dog With Cancer To The Mountains For A ‘Last Adventure’ In A Wheelbarrow

Unfortunately, we all have to learn to let go of the things we care about, and Carlos Fresco just learned this difficult life lesson with his pet labradoodle, ten-year-old Monty. The two friends had been through a lot together in the previous year and a half. Carlos stayed at his beloved dog’s side till his last breath, no matter how tragic his next experience was.

Carlos just discovered that Monty was nearing the end of his life. His blood cancer-stricken dog was nearing the end of her life, so he decided to accompany him on one more expedition.

Carlos told The Brecon & Radnor Express :

“I knew Monty was dying since his cancer had returned,” says the narrator. He was diagnosed 18 months ago and reacted quite well to treatment. Unfortunately, his leukemia returned eight weeks ago and swiftly worsened.”

Carlos’ close buddy, who lives in Brecon, Wales, was sick and had to go from London to visit his doctor. Carlos volunteered to take him and viewed this as an opportunity to have one more adventure with Monty, so he accepted.

They stayed with some friends in Brecon, which allowed Carlos and Monty to trek to the top of Pen y Fan; it was incredible, and many hikers stopped to say hello and meet Monty, as well as helping him up to the summit with the use of a wheelbarrow that Carlos had installed.

According to Charles:

“We improvised and took him on hikes around the magnificent lighthouses since he enjoyed the treks in the hills.” Despite his frailty, he relished the attention and adoration he received from so many fans.”

Monty was overjoyed to view the magnificent scenery and meet new people along the road; the dog was always described as gorgeous, and everyone who approached him was affected by his touching narrative.

People were so connected with Carlos’ gesture that they offered to assist him carry the wheelbarrow to the top of the mountain.

Charles continued, ”

“The locals in the hills were quite nice and equally distressed by his condition of decay. In fact, total strangers approached Monty and asked if they may join him on his final journey.”

Unfortunately, Monty’s health deteriorated during his stay in Brecon, and the cancer-stricken dog died at the feet of his devoted companion and fellow explorer within days.

Charles had this to say:

“He survived till Father’s Day the next morning. It was gone when I peered over the mattress. I’m pleased we went on one more excursion together since he appeared so relaxed.”
