Senior Dog Requires a Home Where He Can Sleep For At Least 9 Hours Every Night

Eric’s owner left him with a neighbor around two months ago and never returned to reclaim him. The 14-year-old puppy was abandoned and alone when he was surrendered to the RSPCA, where he has been waiting for his forever family ever since.

Eric is a senior dog that prefers to take things at a slower pace. He’ll have a cute case of the zoomies now and again, but for the most part, he prefers to slowly meander and snuggle his way through life – and his absolute favorite hobby is napping.

Eric appreciates his sleep in his elderly age after a long, stressful life. In fact, he is adamant about obtaining at least nine hours of sleep every night, and will even put himself to bed on his own to ensure this.

In a news release, Deborah Satchell, center manager at the RSPCA’s Danaher Animal Home, remarked, “Eric loves to slumber.” “He like to be in bed by 10 p.m. and doesn’t want to get out of bed before 7 a.m.!” He also likes to take a lengthy snooze in the afternoon. Because he has a thick, fluffy coat, he loves to sleep in cool places like doorways or on tiled floors.”

Despite his preference for sleep, Eric still cares about his loved ones and has no qualms with extended cuddling sessions or even having a nap with someone he cares about. He’s the perfect low-key companion, and his shelter buddies know he’ll be the right fit for one lucky family.

Satchell stated, “He loves attention and his favorite thing to do is have his back and ears stroked.”

Eric was having trouble adjusting to life at the shelter, so he’s now in a foster home with plenty of room to rest and sleep. However, because he is older, the RSPCA is trying to find him a home as soon as possible so that he may live his senior years in peace.

“We need to locate this senior dog a quiet retirement home with his own nice bed,” Satchell added. “He enjoys human companionship and finds being alone extremely frightening, therefore he’s searching for someone who can be with him for the majority of the day.”

Eric likes other dogs, but he requires a home without cats or little children, while older children are fine. He’s mostly deaf at this stage and, as a result, can be a little jumpy if treated incorrectly, so he’ll require a family who understands. He also enjoys going for leash walks and viewing the sights before returning home for a snooze or a snuggle with his favorite folks.

“He’s a great dog that enjoys a laid-back lifestyle and would make an excellent companion for the appropriate person,” Satchell added.
