Swan Is Safely Returning Home Thanks to a Nice Guy
A man out walking in Limerick, Ireland, had no idea he was going to come upon a wild local in need of assistance.
As automobiles raced past, the guy, Jack McGrath, was crossing a bridge when he noticed a huge white swan standing there, seeming a bit bewildered.
“On my way home from work, I was going over the bridge and encountered two American visitors who were observing the swan in distress but didn’t know how to rescue it,” McGrath told The Dodo. “So I stayed with it until it felt at ease with me, and then I called Limerick Animal Welfare (LAW) for help.”
Unfortunately, LAW was 25 miles away, and the swan need assistance immediately. It was rush hour, and the traffic had already taken its toll on him.
“After ensuring the bird was not sick or wounded, Jack graciously escorted the swan back to the river,” Marie Quirke, sanctuary manager at LAW, told The Dodo.
As a result, the man and the swan embarked on their journey to the river.
The swan was a bit erratic, leaping out in front of the oncoming cars.
To keep the swan safe, McGrath leapt out in front of incoming automobiles as well.
McGrath stated, “I helped assist him across the bridge, going side by side with him to ensure he kept safe.” “Then I took him down the steps to the river and stood with him until he leapt in.”
McGrath stated, “I enjoyed the experience since I’ve always had a soft spot for animals, so there was no way I was leaving the poor fellow there in misery.”
McGrath’s kind deed was not forgotten.
McGrath stated he “celebrated like a regular young guy on a Saturday night with a few beers then woke up Sunday morning seeing 35 notifications on my phone” when asked how he celebrated a job well done.
McGrath was questioned about the rescue by people from all around the world.
McGrath stated, “I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing.” “I’m really humbled by the response – it’s such a simple effort to help an animal in need,” she says.
McGrath quipped on Facebook, “Now taking bookings for nightclub appearances.” “Send me a private message for further information.”
“Our heartfelt gratitude to you, Jack,” LAW wrote.
As well as ours.
