To Help Dogs Get Adopted, A Shelter Takes Them Out For Puppuccinos

A shelter dog’s life might be lonely at times. Waiting for someone to see you and take you home is undoubtedly tiresome, and one shelter is trying to make the process a little easier.

The Kitsap Humane Society in Washington started the Puppuccino Pals initiative in April. Molly Clark, a volunteer at the shelter, brings one of the puppies to the local Starbucks every Tuesday for a wonderful Puppuccino. (It’s a tiny cup filled with whipped cream on the chain’s “secret menu.”)

Not only does the dog get to escape the shelter for a ride and a treat, but the Starbucks also puts posters informing people about the dog of the week in the hopes that they would adopt him.

Clark has been taking dogs out for Puppuccinos to offer them a respite from shelter life for quite some time, even though the program just started in April.

The Kitsap Humane Society’s events and marketing assistant coordinator Kimberly Cizek Allen told The Dodo, “The dogs LOVE the shelter breaks, and they like the Puppuccinos.” “As they suck the whipped cream out of the cup, you can see it in their little eyes.”

Even if a dog isn’t a good match for a Puppuccino trip, the shelter ensures that they get their treat – and the exposure – nonetheless.

“If a dog is not suitable for a trip owing to a physical constraint, Molly will take another dog on an outing and return with a Puppuccino,” Allen explained. “That way, the Puppuccino Pals dog may have play yard time, quiet room time, or whatever time is most suitable while still appearing on our show!”

To give each Puppuccino Pal dog a little more attention, the shelter posts a picture of them on its Instagram account.

The Puppuccino Pals initiative is a fantastic method to get shelter puppies out in the community and to remind people that hundreds of wonderful canines are still waiting for their forever homes every day.
